A Family Business
Colin Williamson studied at Manchester School of Art, and subsequently had a varied career including service in the R.A.F. and teaching in higher education.
He became a full time artist in 1978, and has since enjoyed travelling across Britain in order to capture its varied landscapes in watercolour.
He lives near Whitby, on the edge of the North Yorkshire Moors.
Colin Williamson Prints is a family business and was established in order to make Colin’s paintings available to a wider public.
The Williamson family is very much at the centre of the business. In addition to Colin’s indispensable artistic input, he is also responsible for the overall direction of the business. Betty makes sure that everything runs smoothly on a day to day basis, and Robert, the youngest son, is in charge of framing, mounting and print production.
Nick, the eldest son, is based in Cumbria and looks after marketing and trade sales. As with all family businesses, roles become blurred and at busy times everyone helps out where they can. The business has been running for nearly 30 years and we still have many customers who started to deal with us when we started.
